Birmingham City Council could be forced to pay out up to £600m in equal pay case.

Thousands of female Birmingham City Council staff could receive a share of up to £600m in compensation after winning an equal pay employment tribunal case.

Up to 5,000 female workers, including cleaners, care assistants & cooks, brought the case against the council after they were not paid bonuses that were offered to male refuse collectors, allowing the men to earn more than £50,000 a year.

The tribunal found these bonuses were discriminatory because it was rewarding male workers for doing their jobs properly.  Read more

Description:

In this role you would handle all vehicles arriving on site with various transport companies having been purchased from auction or our fleet partners. You will be responsible for the checking of damage, signing delivery notes, tagging all keys correctly and passing on the documentation to the Operations Admin team. You will have a keen eye for detail and be able to adhere to strict policies and procedures.

This is a full time permanent role based on 40 hours per week covering Monday to Sunday on a rota basis. You will receive 30 days holiday per year including statutory bank holidays, have the option to join the pension scheme available at the time (employee contributions only) and have a Death in Service benefit of twice your annual salary.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Check in of all vehicles completing the appropriate documentation
  • Tagging of keys in line with the company policy
  • Supplying of fully completed documents to the Operations Admin Team
  • Parking of vehicles following delivery in the allocated areas
  • Control and security of keys
  • Control and security of vehicles being locked
  • Progress chasing and resolving issues that cause vehicles to fall outside of agreed target/standard/KPI

Competencies & Experience Required

You will possess a full clean UK driving licence, have a keen eye for detail and demonstrate previous experience in a role responsible for adhering to policies and procedures at all times with the ability to prioritise workloads.
