Birmingham City Council could be forced to pay out up to £600m in equal pay case.

Thousands of female Birmingham City Council staff could receive a share of up to £600m in compensation after winning an equal pay employment tribunal case.

Up to 5,000 female workers, including cleaners, care assistants & cooks, brought the case against the council after they were not paid bonuses that were offered to male refuse collectors, allowing the men to earn more than £50,000 a year.

The tribunal found these bonuses were discriminatory because it was rewarding male workers for doing their jobs properly.  Read more

Description:

MOTOR TRADE JOB:  Due to sickness our client requires a fully trained vehicle technician / mechanic with main dealership experience on a temporary basis. As part of a large national group there may be other opportunities arise from this temporary role.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years previous motor trade experience, preferably with an executive franchise.

Key tasks & responsibilities include:

  • Service & repair vehicles of all makes and models, but mainly of the franchise
  • PDI of new vehicles
  • Diagnose faults and carry out testing of vehicles
  • Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard
  • Complete job cards and write ups as necessary and accurately
