Birmingham City Council could be forced to pay out up to £600m in equal pay case.

Thousands of female Birmingham City Council staff could receive a share of up to £600m in compensation after winning an equal pay employment tribunal case.

Up to 5,000 female workers, including cleaners, care assistants & cooks, brought the case against the council after they were not paid bonuses that were offered to male refuse collectors, allowing the men to earn more than £50,000 a year.

The tribunal found these bonuses were discriminatory because it was rewarding male workers for doing their jobs properly.  Read more

Description:

MOTOR TRADE JOB: Our client is part of a large top 100 group in the Motor Industry covering many manufacturers throughout the UK. An opportunity has arisen for a Service Advisor / Service Receptionist based at one of their large busy prestige Dealerships in the Leeds / Bradford area of West Yorkshire.

This is a full time permanent role with some Saturday working required.

Previous experience in a Motor Trade role of a similar nature is essential and previous experience in a Service Advisor / Service Receptionist role would be preferable.

Main tasks will include:

  • Booking vehicles in for service and repair using the computerised diary system
  • Advising customers of estimated costs and repair timescale
  • Completion of all documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Raise invoices and receive payments
  • Communicate effectively with customers, both face to face and by telephone
