Birmingham City Council could be forced to pay out up to £600m in equal pay case.

Thousands of female Birmingham City Council staff could receive a share of up to £600m in compensation after winning an equal pay employment tribunal case.

Up to 5,000 female workers, including cleaners, care assistants & cooks, brought the case against the council after they were not paid bonuses that were offered to male refuse collectors, allowing the men to earn more than £50,000 a year.

The tribunal found these bonuses were discriminatory because it was rewarding male workers for doing their jobs properly.  Read more

Description:

MOTOR TRADE JOBS: Our clients is looking for a fully experienced Workshop Controller with volume franchise experience and a technical background in motor vehicle maintenance.

This is a full time permanent position and does include some weekend working.

Key tasks include:

  • Manage the throughput of work to meet objectives
  • Assist with diagnostic issues
  • Ensure accuracy of data recorded
  • Manage and motivate a team of Technicians
  • Maintain high standards of customer care
  • Monitor H&S policies and procedures
  • Coach and develop the team

The ideal person will have previous motor trade experience and served an apprenticeship as a Mechanic / Technician gaining City & Guilds certificate or equivalent.

Fast fit experience would be a distinct advantage for this role.
