Birmingham City Council could be forced to pay out up to £600m in equal pay case.

Thousands of female Birmingham City Council staff could receive a share of up to £600m in compensation after winning an equal pay employment tribunal case.

Up to 5,000 female workers, including cleaners, care assistants & cooks, brought the case against the council after they were not paid bonuses that were offered to male refuse collectors, allowing the men to earn more than £50,000 a year.

The tribunal found these bonuses were discriminatory because it was rewarding male workers for doing their jobs properly.  Read more

Description:

MOTOR TRADE JOBS:   Our client is a large retailer of used cars growing rapidly due to their internet presence in the UK and possible expansion into Europe.  An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motor mechanic due to their continued growth, based in Birmingham, West Midlands.

The ideal candidatee may come from a fast fit type of environment, car supermarket, de-fleet operation, or a non franchised dealer background who is experienced in the servicing and repair of most makes and models.

You must be qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Motor Repairs & Servicing as a minimum.

The main role will be inspecting and preparing used vehicles for sale.

Key Tasks include:

  • Inspecting and reporting faults in line with the company preparation schedule
  • Repairs and servicing of vehicles to meet the sales preparation standards
  • Mop out scuffs using body mops
  • Diagnostic work and fault finding

This is a full time permanent position and does include some weekend working.
