Birmingham City Council could be forced to pay out up to £600m in equal pay case.

Thousands of female Birmingham City Council staff could receive a share of up to £600m in compensation after winning an equal pay employment tribunal case.

Up to 5,000 female workers, including cleaners, care assistants & cooks, brought the case against the council after they were not paid bonuses that were offered to male refuse collectors, allowing the men to earn more than £50,000 a year.

The tribunal found these bonuses were discriminatory because it was rewarding male workers for doing their jobs properly.  Read more

Description:

MOTOR TRADE JOB:  A vacancy has become available for a trained Technician with one of the largest groups in the UK working on a volume franchise based in Hull.

The ideal candidate will have 3 years previous motor trade experience, preferably with a volume franchise.

This is a full time, permanent position working 40 hours per week plus alternate Saturdays, 8.30am-12.30pm.

This role has an excellent basic salary with OTE of £22,400 and usual benefits of working for a large retail group.

Key tasks & responsibilities include:

  • Service & repair vehicles of all makes and models
  • PDI of new vehicles within a volume franchise
  • Diagnose faults and carry out testing of vehicles
  • Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard
