Birmingham City Council could be forced to pay out up to £600m in equal pay case.

Thousands of female Birmingham City Council staff could receive a share of up to £600m in compensation after winning an equal pay employment tribunal case.

Up to 5,000 female workers, including cleaners, care assistants & cooks, brought the case against the council after they were not paid bonuses that were offered to male refuse collectors, allowing the men to earn more than £50,000 a year.

The tribunal found these bonuses were discriminatory because it was rewarding male workers for doing their jobs properly.  Read more

Description:

MOTOR TRADE JOBS: Our client is part of a large group in the retail motor industry with several volume franchises. This position is based in Hull, East Yorkshire.

An opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join the team in East Yorkshire.

The ideal candidate will be experienced from within a franchised network such as Renault, Nissan, Vauxhall or Ford. A driving licence is essential for this role.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Undertake maintenance, service and repair activities on motor vehicles of all types
  • Inspecting and reporting faults in line with the company preparation schedule
  • Ability to diagnose faults, carry out tests of vehicles and complete repairs accordingly
  • Carry out all work to the highest standard to ensure customer satisfaction

This is a full time, permanent role and will include some weekend working as and when required. 

Salary will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed at interview stage.
