Salary survey reveals that 30% of job seekers move for more money
A recent survey of over 6,000 UK workers which includes the Automotive sector reveals that job seekers move for more money. Over 30% of workers enjoyed their last pay rise as a result of a job change.
The survey also revealed that men still earn more than their female counterparts by 18.5% on average and that the widest gender gap is found in the Finance sector whereas the narrowest gap is in Marketing.
In addition to the above the survey also found that bonus is the UK’s most popular and sought after job related perk.
It is also interesting to see that the survey found only 20% that stated they loved their job was earning an average salary of £24,158.
Wendy Ward Director of Connect HR & Recruitment Ltd said, “This survey clearly shows again that as part of an employer’s staff retention plan you must pitch your salaries and realistic on target earnings correctly in your market or you could face a higher cost of recruitment. We all know recruitment is costly no matter which route you take to recruiting your staff". Wendy also said, "It is also very disappointing to see that the gender gap remains so high even after recent employment legislation which was aimed at solving this problem”.
The survey was carried out by Reed which was completed by their users of reed.co.uk between April and May 2011.
