New leave rights for parents as to how they use maternity and paternity leave.

The government is proposing to change the law so that employed mothers will be able to transfer all or part of the last 26 weeks of maternity leave to the father. To the extent that this "additional paternity leave" is taken during the mother's 39 week maternity pay period, it would be paid at the same rate as SMP, currently £123.06.

A consultation on draft regulations is to be launched soon. Subject to consultation and parliamentary procedure, the Government intends that the law be in force by April 2010 and have effect for parents of children due on or after 3rd April 2011. More information

Chris Watson, a Director of Connect HR & Recruitment Ltd held several senior Directors roles in the 8 years preceding the formation of his own company with two business partners in 2006. Chris was elected Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry in 1999 and awarded a Diploma in Performance Coaching by the NCFE in 2005. Chris has been recruiting staff at all levels including senior management and Executives for over 10 years and is based in the North East of England.

Wendy Ward, a Director of Connect HR & Recruitment Ltd was Head of HR & Recruitment in a Large PLC with over 1,500 employees prior to the formation of Connect HR & Recruitment Ltd. Wendy was awarded a Level 3 Certificate in Management by the CMI in 2005 and a Certificate in Personnel Practice by the CIPD in 2007 and is based in East Yorkshire.
